The University of Ottawa manages various institutional programs such as the Research Support Fund and the Canada Research Continuity Emergency Fund.
Research Support Fund
At the University of Ottawa, the Research Support Fund is used to support activities such as the maintenance of research facilities, the purchase of library holdings, the promotion and sustenance of technology transfer services, assistance in preparing and managing grant proposals, and technical support to meet regulatory requirements.
Incremental project grant
In 2018, the federal government announced a new stream of the Research Support Fund, the Incremental Project Grants (IPG), to provide postsecondary institutions with additional funding to pay for the indirect costs of research. The total IPG budget is $231.3 million over five years and $58.8 million per year after that.
Canada Research Continuity Emergency Fund
The Canada Research Continuity Emergency Fund (CRCEF) is a tri-agency temporary program established to help sustain the research enterprise at Canadian universities and health research institutions that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is expected that the program will help reduce negative impacts of the pandemic and ensure that the benefits of significant investments to date in universities and health research institutions are protected.
