Biography
Canadian Francophonie Research Chair in Health
The chair’s research contributes to the development of the history of nursing, the body, health, and psychiatric care in Quebec and the rest of Canada. It focuses on the history of nuns in hospitals and the integration of professional specialized mental health care provided by nursing graduates in Montreal psychiatric institutions. More generally, the research concerns asylum life in Quebec and across Canada, with a commitment to giving inmates a voice. The chair is also interested in the microhistories of psychiatric patients and new forms of research promotion, such as web-based documentaries and fiction.
