OTTAWA, February 5, 2015 -- Professors Roland Pongou, from the Faculty of Social Sciences, and Maxim Berezovski, from the Faculty of Science, were honoured today as recipients of the University of Ottawa Young Researcher of the Year Award for their exceptional contributions to research and student mentorship.
OTTAWA, January 20, 2015 - Plans for two new research labs at the University of Ottawa have received major financial support from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). One of the labs will design better strategies to protect lands in and around mineral extraction sites, while the other will study the mechanical, physiological and behavioral traits of organisms, to inspire design of new materials and mechanical systems.

Their study, which has implications for lowland river floodplains and deltas, appears today in the journal Nature. It was written by lead author Jeremy Venditti from Simon Fraser University, with co-authors from the University of Ottawa and the University of British Columbia.
