Congratulations to Kira F. Robinson, a first-year student in International Development and Globalization (Faculty of Social Sciences), who won the Holiday Greeting Card Contest sponsored by the Vice-President, Research! Her artwork, entitled The Window, was purchased by the University of Ottawa for $2,000 and now graces the cover of the card.

Using an assortment of highlighters and pens, Robinson drew the vibrant view from her residence room window. “Everyone who has looked through this window before me or will after me will perceive this view differently,” she explains. “This continuum of different perspectives is innovation.”

Due to the record number and exceptional quality of this year’s submissions, the selection committee has awarded an additional seven honourable mentions to Eunice Bithuse, Ferhat Demirel, Mimi Xiaoming Deng, Emily Huang, Aisha Khalid, Angelina McCormick and Sarah McDonald.

A special thank you to our contest judges from the Ottawa Art Gallery and the University’s Department of Visual Arts for their time and invaluable contribution.
