University of Ottawa welcomes newly appointed Chinese ambassador Lu Shaye

President Jacques Frémont and Vice-President, Research Mona Nemer hosted Chinese ambassador Lu Shaye during his first visit to the University of Ottawa on April 21. The recently appointed ambassador was briefed on the University’s partnerships and research and education initiatives with Chinese institutions.

The deans of Engineering, Social Sciences and Medicine gave an overview of their faculties’ collaborations with China. Recent and future projects include the Ottawa-Shanghai School of Medicine, a policy research centre, joint laboratories in areas ranging from proteomics to pharmacology to fish genetics, and educator training programs for Chinese professors.
