Remarkable Young Researchers Join a Prestigious Academy

Three young University of Ottawa researchers recently earned international attention by being named to the Global Young Academy, a prestigious international group of young academics at the start of their promising careers.

Professors Alison Flynn and Ebrahim Karimi, of the Faculty of Science, along with Vanessa MacDonnell, of the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, will join this illustrious group of emerging talents from around the world whose research spans the sciences, medicine, engineering, social sciences, arts and humanities.

“The fact that uOttawa has had ten professors elected to this prestigious group confirms that our young researchers are leaders in their respective disciplines and highlights their exceptional contributions to advancing knowledge,” said Sylvain Charbonneau, Vice-President, Research.

The Global Young Academy brings together the world’s top young researchers to serve a five-year term, during which they apply their dedication and excellent research skills to tackling the most pressing global problems.
