Are you a new principal investigator?
Are you a new student or staff member?
Before faculty members, students, post-doctoral fellows or research/teaching assistants work with animals, they must have received appropriate training and be competent to carry out the planned animal-based work (see the CCAC guidelines on training of animal users).
The members of the Office of Animal Ethics & Compliance work with the Animal Care & Veterinary Service to ensure that each faculty member, student, post-doctoral fellow and research/teaching assistant either has or is provided with theoretical and practical training that is relevant to his or her animal-based work.
For new animal users, there will be:
- theoretical, on-line training
- an in-person information session
- practical training as needed
