Established in 2011, the Office of International Research (OIR) supports University of Ottawa researchers in their global endeavours.
The Office contributes to the University’s strategic research priorities by identifying international funding opportunities for researcher mobility, research projects and the establishment of joint laboratories. It also manages several seed funding programs to foster collaborations, such as the International Research Acceleration Program and the France-Canada Research Fund, and to support scholarly exchanges, such as the Distinguished Visiting Researchers Program and the Canada-U.S. Fulbright Visiting Research Chairs.
As the University’s global research networks expand, the OIR aims to strengthen partnerships with institutions in several priority countries. It is staffed with professionals who have expertise in Asia, Europe and Latin America. “The University of Ottawa is a truly dynamic environment, bringing a lot of expertise, experience and fun to international partnerships,” says Director François Carrier. “The Office of International Research is about bringing people together to achieve outstanding research collaborations that enhance the University’s reputation worldwide.”
