Sean Geddes

Please join me in welcoming SEAN GEDDES as the new Business Development Manager (Vascular) to our team here at ISS. Sean will be supporting our research activities in the area of Life Sciences along with Catherine Geci and the rest of the ISS team. In this role, his responsibilities include assessing new technologies arising from scientific research for commercial potential, developing and implementing commercialisation plans, negotiating licensing agreements, and liaising with industry partners.

Sean comes to us from uOttawa’s Faculty of Medicine, where he was a lab manager and research associate. Sean has experience supporting health-related technology development and innovation while collaborating with the Brain Canada Foundation, CFI, and NSERC. As a result, he has helped to actively generate substantial research funding through research and grant preparation. Additionally, Sean has gained experience in developing and maintaining relationships with company representatives and liaising with key stakeholders.

Sean has also managed multiple research projects resulting in scientific publication in top research journals such as PNAS, Neuropharmacology, and Molecular Brain, as well as presented scientific research findings at international and national conferences. Outside of research in the life sciences, he has also authored a chapter for a book on big data and analytics applications in the government, which will be published this fall.

He holds an Honours B.Sc. in Bio-Medical Sciences from the University of Guelph, a M.Sc. in Neuroscience from the University of Ottawa, and he is expected to earn his MBA in August 2017 from the Telfer School of Management at uOttawa. Sean brings extensive knowledge of the University, government programs, and health organizations which will be a very valuable asset to our research community!
