Celebration of the University of Ottawa’s research achievements in the arts, humanities and social sciences
The inaugural annual Celebration of the University of Ottawa’s research achievements in the arts, humanities and social sciences took place on September 27. The Vice-President, Research, Dr. Mona Nemer, kicked off the formal part of the event with a comprehensive summary of this past year’s successes, including the award of research grants and prizes, and the appointment of new and renewed research chairs. These successes and many others, asserted Dr. Nemer, are a clear indication of the recognition of excellence in all areas of research.
For his part, the President and Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Jacques Frémont, reminded the participants that these impressive achievements provided ample evidence that the arts, humanities and social sciences constitute one of the key foundational pillars on which the University of Ottawa has built its reputation as a top research institution.
In addition to congratulating our researchers, Mr. Frémont and Dr. Nemer warmly thanked the dedicated personnel that play an essential role in the support and promotion of research excellence. Both are looking forward to next year’s celebration.
